Wow Marvin sure dropped quite a bombshell here on P3D. The reply to his
comments were very interesting, to put it milddddly. Or was that madddly.
;-) In any case, I agree (who am I but a lowly 3d enthusiast) with Marvin
that most of the anaglyph glasses I have seen follow the red left convention.
Heck if it's good enough for my Vivitar Q-dos glasses, it's good enough for
me.
As to how the orientation of the colored glasses came about, I have no
idea but offer these observations. It could have been randomly picked.
If this is the case, then it could be said that there might be a
better of the two orientation. The reason I mention this is, remember
the discussion a while back here on P3D about the dominant eye.
In one of my posts in that particular thread I mentioned that depending
on which eye is dominant (similiar to left and right handedness) the
person will see with a red or blue (or whatever) tint with the red
on left or vice versa. If one concentrates, one can transfer dominance
to the "other" eye and alternate back and forth whether the tint is
red or blue. I don't know if this has anything to do with the non
conventional mode offered by Dan Symmes reponse to Marvin's comments.

P.S. As I was about to post this, Greg's post comes down the wire
and he laments
>Maybe it's related to which eye is dominant (oh no! not THAT thread!).
>:-)
SORRY Greg W. ;;;;;-)
