Free VM reel??

I received a wonderful gift the other day. Having made
a nice trade with collector and Photo3d member Roger Weis,
he added a little extra in his parcel to me. It was an attractively
made ViewMaster reel of his home town, Napoleon Ohio,
in a ViewMaster lookalike pack. I was immediately inspired to put
together a similar set of my little village of Ashover in England,
together with a facimile colour jacket. I'm really no great stereo
photographer (people who know me will confirm this is not false
modesty), but with some patience I was able to assemble an
interesting seven scene VM coverage of my very beautiful Derbyshire
village.

Brief philosophical digression(may be skipped is preferred):
Has anyone commented before on the similarities
between "covering" a location in seven VM views , and other formalised
formats like the sonnet or haiku? The discipline of having to fit your
story in to a pre-ordained shape and length really seems to help keep
your mind focussed on what you want to convey.
Digression over.

I enjoyed Rogers' home made reels so much I wonder if there
is anyone else who would like to trade a personal reel for one
of mine. A reel of your hometown/family would be great, or perhaps
your last holiday? If you are anything like me you probably have
seven uncut and unmounted chips lying around in a drawer somewhere.
Like many ViewMaster fans I love to find new reels not already in my
collection but as time goes on it becomes harder and more expensive
to obtain new material. This seems an inexpensive way to fill the gap until
your copy of "President Kennedy Visits Ireland" turns up at a garage sale
for $1.

So if you are interested just email me off list , and I'll send you a copy
of my reel, complete with jacket and descriptive leaflet in return for a
personal reel of yours!!

Best wishes,
John Bradley
