Hmmm, just what I suspected. Then it is not the simplest way. You are
assuming access to a scanner, a computer and an understanding of what
"centroid them to mucho subpixel accuracy" means!

If I was going to test lenses for FL match I would take two slides and
mount them in an Albion mount. By aligning the bottom of the images
I can see how well they match at the top by using the aluminum mask
as my reference.
Now, that it simple!
