Although it seems that my FED is the exception, non-adjusted FED's seem
to have the reputation to underexpose a bit when its internal metering
is used (your non-flash shots). You might try and set the ASA rating knob
to a slightly lower value than the film's rating to compensate.

"36 exposure" film is film that holds 36 8-perf *NONSTEREO* images (288 perfs
worth). The FED takes two 7-perf images per photo, so I'm surprised that
you got as many as 28 (pairs of 7-perf images). If you get a full 36, then
that means that the film isn't attached to the takeup reel. :-)

Except for the annoyance of the focus knob getting knocked off if one looks
the other way for even a second (old model), mine seems to work pretty well.
I'm sure you'll like yours too once you get the hang of it -- and quit hitting
the focus knob. :-)
