mounting for projection
Re: the recent comments about cardboard mounts being unacceptable for NSA
presentations: The Brackett Dissolver has a rather firm registration
system, which tends to distort cardboard mounts by squeezing them into an
arc. The latest batch of Dissolvers have a control on the bottom which
allows regulation of the pressure. It should be possible to show cardboard
mounts with this model, but cardboard mounts are inherently dimensionally
unstable and any variation in thickness or size will be magnified by the
large screen and fast lenses used in NSA programs.
I am in favor of the no-cardboard rule, although we "played it by ear" at
Rochester and did not enforce it rigidly. However, any show which is good
enough to be presented at NSA is certainly good enough to be presented at
other venues; therefore the question of whether or not it is "worth it to
remount 150 slides 'just' for an NSA presentation" doesn't really arise.
The RBT projector is notoriously unforgiving for any but RBT mounts.
