perfect slide mounting

"Objects that are behind the stereo
window will be projected behind the screen and objects in front of the
stereo window will be projected in front of the screen. This is the most
natural setup. For a person mounting for the stereo window, this window is
at screen level and the desired window effect is maximized."
What is "mounting for the stereo window?" I assume it doesn't mean mounting
so that objects at infinity are aligned exactly the same way in the mask
(mounting for infinity, right?), and it doesn't mean that the closest
objects are aligned exactly the same way in the mask (mounting for...the
closest objects?). So what is it, something in between? And if so, how can
you avoid adjustment between slides?
