As usual, Jon Golden has spoken a mouth full. Each word a tastie treat of
informative, experienced, knowledge.

I have been thinking about putting together a super quickie slide show for
the convention, but I don't have enough images that could make up one theme.
I have many images that I like, and have done well in local competition, it
is just that I don't know if they would work well together.

I would love to have a show of my computer stereo, including, 2-D to 3-D
conversions, computer generated images, and composites of different stereo
images to make sureal images. The problem with that is that I have only
printed 2 of those images to slide. The reason for that is because it costs
about $18 to get 2 images printed to slides, and I can't afford to drop over
$200 on only a dozen slides, when the same amount of money could by me
enough slide film (including proccessing) to take almost 700 5p slides with
my Revere33. And only 14 slides would not be even much of a quickie show.
For the price of getting only 24 computer images printed to slides, I could
by my own stereo projector.

I guess my main question is how much value in a show is lost if the images
have nothing to do with each other?

I totally agree with re-runing shows during the convention. Last year I
missed a few of the shows that I really wanted to see because I was busy in
the dealer's room.

I also agree with less is more. Even a few of the slide shows that had
some fantastic images got a bit boring after more than a half an hour.

The other thing I could say about doing the slide shows is that the dialog
or music that is going on while the slides are projected is important.
Someone had a looooong slide show that had a few wonderful images, and a lot
of shots where everything looked flat because all of the subjects were so
far away. The worse part about the show was that the person narated live
with the images and said things like, "There are some of the people that I
saw in that country.", and, "As you can see, some people are dancing." It
is definately not neccasary to tell the audience things that are that obvious.
