Answers to Paul's mounting questions
HELLO!!! Is the printer discussion over??? Time to return to 3d:
Thanks to Paul Talbot for asking some fundamental and basic questions
on mounting. Here are my responses:
Regarding commercial (Kodak/Kodalux) mounting, there is an element of
risk/luck. It takes experience to tell when the picture does not
look good because of incorrect mounting. This can be a problem with
the more inexperienced users that use this commercial service.
Regarding the need for readjusting to align the mask on the screen,
Paul offers a number of explanations, all of which could be valid.
I have noticed that there is a difference in 5P and 7P mounts (this
was discussed in the list too) but the difference is small, not worth
adjusting the projector for that. Same for most other reasons.
Regarding the flexibility in manipulating the stereo window using 5P
mounts with 5p Realist-format pairs, I have been able to use the 5P
mounts and place the stereo window anywhere from 4 ft to infinity.
I only use 4P mounts if I want to crop the picture, not for setting
the stereo window. To achieve this wide range the Realist must not
have significant frame overlapping which steals away image space.
