NSA demonstrations and exhibits

As you probably all know, the 1997 NSA convention is being held July 4-7 =
in
Bellevue, Washington. I am in charge of arranging the demonstrations and
commercial exhibitions. If you would like to participate in either of th=
ose,
please contact me off-line, (WHMoll@xxxxxxx). Also if you have any
suggestions for people or companies for me to contact, please send those
names to me.

Demonstrations:
These are opportunities for people with skills or knowledge in the ways o=
f
3-D to share these with others at the convention. This has been a weak p=
oint
of the conventions which I have attended. People who are new to 3D have
complained bitterly about the very limited organized learning opportunite=
s.
My model for this is the Stereoscopic Society Conventions in England. T=
hey
have break-out sessions where numerous people demonstrate their technique=
s in
everything from slide mounting to making 3D cameras. This is all done as
sort of a multi-ring circus during breaks.

The time schedule for the demonstrations has not yet been set. The
demonstrations will take place in a room close to but separate from the t=
rade
fair area. Typically the sessions have been squeezed in around other eve=
nts.
Some have been concurrent with the trade fair on Saturday afternoon.
Because many easterners will be staying over for Monday, late Sunday
afternoon or early evening are also opportunities.

Commercial Exhibits:
These exhibits will be in one section of the trade show. This special
location is entirely at the request of the exhibitor. Many companies wil=
l be
there primarily to sell items instead of demonstrate technology or
capabilities and should fill out the normal form and send it through the
regular channels. The Trade Show application form was included in the
Nov/Dec 1996 Stereo World. For more information on the trade show tables=
,
contact Andrew/Dalia Miller (dddalia@xxxxxxxxx).

The only reason to separate commercial exhibits is to create an area wher=
e
discussions might more easily take place. It will also be possible to ha=
ve a
lower lighting level for CRT screens, backlit projection, etc.

There will be the normal charge for trade fair table space ($65/50) and
electric connections ($30). If there are any suggestions for =93commerci=
al=94
exhibits such as the great Keystone factory photos at Rochester, please s=
end
them to me. That type of exhibit would, of course, have no charges.
