3D TV On TV

Last night 19/3 the UK science programme "Tomorrows World" was broadcast
from its live event at the National Exhibition Centre Birmingham (Britain
not Alabama) .
It had a feature on 3D TV which of course could not be fully apreciated
unless you were there. This event is open untill this coming Sunday 23/3 ,
because the subject a computer generated cartoon fish kept tilting back and
forwards there was some suggestion of depth as it was. But I dont think the
process is movement dependant and requires no glasses it uses a liquid
crystal array over the screen to accomplish the same effect as a lenticular
screen . They showed a lenticular for comparison of John Wayne as a cowboy
with an Indian woman , I think this was made from a 3D movie and was one of
a number which were available from stereo world at one time. They tilted it
to show the parralax and this was actualy the most effective 3D in the
piece. They also showed by comparison a clip of an anaglyph film of the
Invisible Man! which I have videoed but when I replayed wearing anaglyph
spectacles I got no effect .There was no publicity beforehand to give
people the chance to get spectacles but one of the presenters was wearing a
pair. Shots of an audience interspersed with the Invisible Man clips showed
them wearing LCD glasses not Anaglphs . I am going to try to go to this
event probably on Sunday so I may be able to give a proper opinion of the
3D TV system on Monday. P.J.Homer
