Hale-Bopp exposure times

Advise from the net.

Max exposure with a fixed Camera and Lens

This assumes 400 asa film, derate as required.  Best results may come at
shorter times if in a light polluted area or a full or gibbous moon is
up (like this weekend!)

At these times stars will trail noticeably.  The rule of thumb for stars
to still appear round is 5 seconds max exposure time at 50 mm fl, derate
linearly with fl.

Please not these are suggestions not guarantees!
