Yes. And here is another "immediate response": The only problem with
the green button that you mentioned in your first posting was that it
is considerably dimmer than the red button when used with batteries.
To that, I replied with suggestions to make your green button as bright
(if not brighter) than your red button.
Now, you are presenting more arguments for why you don't like the
Green button. Fine. But, let me make one comment regarding how
you open the viewer to put batteries and switch from AC to DC:
The Realist engineers went to great lengths to assure that you can switch
from AC to DC _without_ opening the top cover. This is the only viewer
I know of, in which you can use AC operation and keep the batteries in.
The electrical circuits in DC and AC operation are electrically isolated
from each other. What the Realist engineers had in mind is that the user
will leave the batteries in and just unscrew the _bottom_ screw to
replace DC/AC cartridges. In their mind, there was no need to open the
top cover. (How the viewer is being used today, is another issue).
Of course, you will need to open the top cover to install batteries.
The problem of the 2 screws falling off, is nicely solved by using 2
plastic nuts to hold them in place. I got this idea from Jon Golden
and I supply these nuts (together with a new reflector) with my
book on this viewer.

Aha! You have not checked prices lately, have you? In sell-3d Elliott
Swanson has sold a red button for $135 and he cannot sell a green button
for $125.
>Your choice of the best battery type depends upon how you use your viewer.
Of course! Ni-Cd rechargeable batteries are only good for people who
use their viewers often. Few people use their viewer as often as I do.
I have been using the regular Ni-Cd batteries (_not_ high capacity)
and I am very pleased with my considerably lighter (less weight) viewer.
One charge lasts for a minimum of one week under considerable use (2-3
weeks under moderate use.) The second pair is always charged and ready to
go.
