Camera cleaning solvents...

In an earlier post I mentioned that I used naptha and Jess Powell used
rubber cement thinner for cleaning cameras. Just found an ancient
solidfied bottle of rubber cement, and the warning label states: "CAUTION,
contains *naptha* and hexane which may produce numbness and weakness in
the extremities." So I guess you shouldn't clean cameras then try to go
and pump iron...
In any case, you can make do with naptha if no rubber cement thinner is
available (naptha is sometimes labeled VM&P Naptha in hardware stores,
which as far as I know is just plain old naptha.)
Perhaps one of the chemists out there could explain the advantages of
having the hexane...
