Kiddding aside, here is some clarification as to why I think the
3Discover camera idea is a good one for some people...
1. My wife will not use a camera that isn't point and shoot... That
rules out EVERY 50's style camera that I have ever seen. She also does
not enjoy slide projection (of any kind), or stereo slide viewers,
mainly because they are a slow/cumbersome way to view the images. So
the currently available options are out of the question for her...
2.. When my daughter starts to be interested in taking pictures. I
would not expect her to use a manual 50's style camera. Again a point
and shoot will fill her needs, and having the images come back in a
package that allows viewing of multiple pairs in quick succession will
make it easier for her to use and share.
>Seriously, using a stereo Camera and mounting your
>own slides is NO BIG DEAL.
It isn't a big deal, I agree. However, that statement only is true for
someone who loves it. Again, using my wife as the example here:
Manually configuring the camera for each shot, cutting the developed
film and mounting the images is not easy to her... Two drives to the
drug store to drop off and pick up film is easy. (To extend that,
taking the pictures, dropping the camera in a bag and mailing it off is
easy.)
>If you like life-like colorful slides viewed in a
>good quality viewer, why have you rejected
>this system?
I HAVE enjoyed the images I have created, and seen in the Expo's, but I
prefer stereo cards and lenticulars because they are EASIER to share.
Now with the 3Discover, I have found a new (VM just doesn't have
anything [relatively speaking] new to tickle peoples fancy with) slide
viewing system that allows me to quickly share a variety of images with
friends. It is EASIER, and that makes it more acceptable to the non-3D
fanatic public. I have not rejected the 50's style slide system as a
valid 3D imaging system, it just does not fit into my environment,
that's all...
Hope I have cleared my position up a bit... =)
