GOLDEN/RBT/LAMPERT/NY CLUB
I see the list is a bit slow today :) so I might as well post a few
comments I wanted to make earlier on Jon Golden's earlier posting
regarding Ted Lambert, Custom Realist, etc. I agree with everything
that Jon said...He is one of my 3d heroes...I have seen his work and
loved it...
Jon mentioned that the review on the RBT S1 camera will appear in the next
issue of Stereo World. I used the camera for 3 weeks and was very pleased
with the experience and the results that I got. People want to know if the
pictures are SHARP. Well, you are asking the wrong person. My eyes (not
as trained as Eric G.'s) might not detect small differences in sharpness.
I loved the camera because it was a joy to use and gave me some pictures
that could have not been taken with any other stereo camera (I posted
informal reviews during the evaluation period in photo-3d). I am seriously
considering getting one for myself. The features that I loved are the
automation (auto exposure/focusing but manual operation is also possible)
and simple/convenient/reliable operation (result of the fixed FL lenses).
The shorter interocular distance is also a big plus for projected slides.
If Realist was making a modern stereo camera, it would be very similar to
the RBT S1!
Regarding Ted Lambert and his inspiring work, the slides that I saw were
taken between 1960 and 1972. I would like to know more about the man and
his work. Anyone can help? Ted was a member of a New York stereo club. I
saw pictures of judges during a NY PSA salon. Sometime ago, Greg Dinkins
asked for information on the history of this NY stereo club. I would like
to know what he found. I find it strage that a large city like NY with
perhaps the highest population of stereo photographers than any other city
in the world, does not have a stereo club. What's the deal????
