Miss Momi Lomilomi,

The Realist is synchronized at any shutter speed... I use 1/50 or 1/100.

Due to the very short duration of the flash light burst, only the aperture
(and not the shutter speed) affects the light from the flash. Different
shutter speeds will only affect the ambient light, not the light from the
flash.

These appear to be the automatic settings in your flash. For subjects at 8
feet and beyond I would use the f8 setting which gives longer range. For
closer objects, especially 6 ft or closer I would use the f11 setting which
is more forgiving in terms of focusing.
