Nimslo Observations

Jonathan Orovitz wrote a very reasoned piece headed "Value of Nimslo".
After a potted history of the camera he wrote:
->So back to the original thesis. The Nimslo is not the $20 piece of
->junk, that Nishika clearly is. I did not buy a Nishika, even at a
->close-out of $75. IMHO, Nimslos were never worth the original $314.90
->asking price. For me, a modified new Nimslo was worth $145 in 1986.
For what it's worth, one of the Nimslos that I have modified to a larger
format (actually 25mm square - lens separation = 50mm) has been used
very effectively by Derek Merfield for many years. Those of you that go
to International Salon shows will certainly have seen some of the
results. They are razor sharp and have enough separation for most
subjects. Even I am amazed when I see the slides from this camera.
The Nimslo is actually a very high quality instrument masquerading as a
toy!
