News of interest regarding films

News of interest from the last issue of Popular Photography:

- New Kodak Ektachrome INFRARED film (EIR) is the first of its kind to
be compatible with E-6 processing. Rated ISO 100, must be loaded in
the dark. E-6 labs must follow certain guidelines. Hobbyist can
process it with E-6 kits. Should be available in 36 exp. rolls by
June, priced similarly to other Kodak IR films.

- Fuji has introduced a new series of Sensia Fujichrome films (Sensia
II, 100, 200, 400) From this family only Sensia 100 is different
and "improved". The rest are just repackaging of the old stuff.

- Kodak has introduced a new K-Lab to enable faster, easier and more
consistent processing of Kodachrome films. "Will the availablitity
of K-lab on a local level be enough to convert current users of
Ektachrome and Fujichrome back to Kodachrome? Time will tell, but
we're betting that it will take an improved version of Kodachrome
(sometime in 1998?) before we see any dramatic increase in its usage."
