I'm a Loreo fan too, but since I replaced my Realist with a Revere I have
to admit that the Loreo has languished a bit. The quality of the Revere
photos makes the print developing developing hassle worth it again. But I
have used slide film in the Loreo with reasonable results. The
relatively unforgiving latitude slide film limits its use in point and
shoot type cameras, but if the lighting is uncomplicated it can work.
THose cheap panorama cameras produce occasionally stunning results with
slide film too. But for best results I would recommend a good negative
film in the Loreo. Have it processed normally, instructing the processor
not to cut the negatives. Then, if the pictures are good, send the strip
to Dale or one of the other labs that makes slides from negatives.
Again, specify that the film be returned as an unmounted strip. It costs
about $5.00. Mount them in half frame stereo mounts and viola!
I have no connection with Dale, and there are people who relate bad
experiences with them. One fellow even said his results were dreadful,
so they must have been pretty bad, I have never felt dread at the sight
of a photograph. A phone ringing at 3 am, maybe, but never a photo. But
I have been very lucky with them for more than 20 years.
I like the Loreo slides when projected and they seem to be very forgiving
in mounting and so on. Give it a try,
Charlie H.
