AFAIK dust on a lens can never form an image on your slide.
It will be so out of focus it can only lower light transmission
a tiny bit (over the whole image) and lower contrast a tiny
bit (due to diffraction around it).
If you do have in-focus images of dust on your slides
it would have to be from something at the film plane
(like some lint or fuzz hanging into the image area).
A bad processing job can make dust like spots on your
slides. Dust stuck to the slides during processing can
prevent proper developing of those areas and leave spots
even if the dust is removed later.
