Wollensak 11 viewer
This is clearly my viewer of choice. I bought two new ones from Olden in
the 1960s, when they were being outleted at $10.95 per. They've been
around the world and have served me very well. Obviously, I should have
bought several dozen of them.
They have one outstanding flaw: the focusing racks are made of bakelite
and the rack most stressed (e.g. the right one, if you're right-handed)
tends to break. George Themalis did an excellent job repairing mine, and
this repair seems to have held for more than a year. (Thanks, George!)
I've also replaced the original bulb with a low-brightness halogen, and
the viewer continues to delight and amaze. While the image is slightly
smaller than that of the Realist red-button, it suffers a bit less from
pin-cushioning.
