Hmmmm... I had to open a dictionary to see that guile means "deceitful
cunning, craftiness"....
I know talented photographers whose images, captured with simple means, do
not cease to amaze me... Unfortunately, I lack this talent so I do need to
shoot more film to counterbalance. But even talented photographers learn
from experience, which is obtained by taking pictures and learning from the
results.
One problem with _not_ shooting enough film is that one ends up with a few
precious excellent images. He/she is then afraid to circulate those images
and share them with friends or enter them in competitions. What happens if
they get lost? Also, this person is very sensitive to rejection. Nobody
likes it if their "best" image gets rejected in a competition. The
solution to this problem is to have many excellent images and keep on
generating more. You then don't care if one of them gets lost or gets
rejected. And the law of averages guarantees success if one has a variety
of good images to show...

Thanks Charlie, and I can say the same for you. We will be at Cincinnati
same time this year (Memorial Day weekend) following the ritual of driving
Saturday, stopping in Columbus for the annual Ohio Camera Collector's
Society trade show (which includes a visit with John Weiler and Dave
Huddle, annual 3d portrait recording, etc.) and then to Cincinnati to visit
friends.
