I use it as X sync. No problem.
I made the flash adaptor by myself a few years ago, it looks ugly
though.
But work very well. 
I put the pictures on my site. If you are interested in, visit my site
and 
click the TDC 116 projector ikon at the bottom of my homepage, and
you'll 
find it the pictures. 
I used an inch screw for the post. It also works as earth(ground) and
the
hard wire(covered black vinyl) just touches on the (+) terminal.
