Sorry to hear you guys are getting negative vibes from Dan Symmes. I
was acquainted with him personally about 15 or 20 years ago, and found
him to be an enthusiastic supporter of 3-D who was tirelessly
experimenting with new formats and was interested in any aspects of
motion picture stereo, whether he made money in it or not. He's done a
lot for the field, being a prime mover for the unique all 3-D issue of
"American Cinematographer" (April, 1974), and coauthor of an
entertaining book ("Amazing 3-D"; coauthor Hal Morgan; Little, Brown,
and Company, Boston/Toronto; [c]1982), as well as being in the middle of
the spate of network 3-D coming up this month.

I hope your experiences with him are not typical, but are the result of
the most pressure he's been under for a number of years. Yes, he's one
of those bright people with an ego, and I expect it may get out of hand
from time to time when the pressure is on; but bright people with egos
have the same obligation to be courteous as anyone else, and I
sympathize with your distress.

Cordially,
