Significant presence? I'm not sure whether this is intentional
understatement, but FYI the Beta tape format in analogue and digital
permutations overwhelmingly dominates the professional market, and has
pretty much singularly made the Sony Corporation's Professional Products
Division wildly profitable over the last decade and a half. It is also
the format which drove the final nail in Ampex's (Sony's only meaningful
competitor) coffin.
