RBT mounts...pin snapping/how to open and close

Dennis....I know that you have mentioned the pin snapping issue with the
RBT mounts but honestly...that is a rare occurence...and you must not be
opening and closing them properly...although there is really no "proper
way to do it"...and Alex Klein suggested a knife....but I suggest an
even simpler method.

Note that each RBT mount has a little curved notch on their vertical
left and/or right sides depending on the RBT 4p, 5p,7p, Wp or Fp
format.

Using your fingernail....simply run it up and down that edge and press
in....you dont have to do it hard at all....and the mount will separate
at that point...then just run your finger around the edges to complete
separation.

FYI...at NSA Atlanta in 95....Franklin Flocks mounted his whole
"Greatful D-D-Dead" show in RBT ,W and F mounts. When he left for NSA
he accidentally took the wrong box of slides. He managed to get someone
to FEDX the correct images in about 2 hours before showtime...and 30
minutes before his show I reviewed the show...and realigned about twenty
images...as Frank did not own a projector...so he had not checked to see
how they would look (he now uses a Brackett with the RBTs).

Once in a rare while an RBT mount pin will snap (you can use a little
silver masking tape from Reel 3D to hold it together)...and I have
offered to replace any that have broken....but I cant do that one at a
time (death by postage rate)..and I suggested about two years ago that
anyone wirth this problem should collect up their broken ones...and when
they get about 20 that have bad pins...sen them to me. To date I have
not received one request for this.

Finally.,...I have a sample mouned image that I bring to shows to
demonstrate the use of RBT mounts.....and it sits on my light
board....and gets opened and closed many times. I first demostrated it
at Atlanta 95. I would bet a few of you remember the image of the C-3
Cargo plane cockpit built in to a brick wall with flowers planted below,
I show how I custom mask out the flowers in the lower foreground, using
EMDE or any (EMDE works the best however) aluminum mask half,
sandwhiched between two RBT mount halves, to bring the planes nose cone
closer to the window...and this sample image is a a way lesson I show
how the window works.
To date...that mount has been opened and closed probably 200 times...and
the pins have not snapped......so try your fingernail everyone.....any
further questions...I'll try to answer them in a snap...oops....quickly
