I wasn't planning on posting today since I am reallly busy but couldn't
help and put my 2 cents in on the weak 3D week.
I agree with Larry's post about the 3D that was broadcast.
The network doesn't get an A or B, or even C grade for quality and/or
originality but rather a big D. Or rather make that 3D's. ;-) I don't
think it was Dan Symmes fault though but rather the producers of the
show. Don't know of course, but my guess is that they told him what they
wanted and he accomodated the best he can. I think he probably provided
the technical support for the 3D but had little say in what and how much
3D would be shown. And as mentioned by Oliver Dean the broadcast engineers
might have changed the way the colors should have been.
BTW I think the reruns of the shows will be kept intact and the 3D clips
will be left in BUT without the anaglyph coding. The reason is because
I noticed in one of the programs that played at different times in Canada
and the US, that the 3D clip in the Canadian version didn't have the
3D anaglyph while the exact same clip an hour later in the US version
had it.
I agree with everybody that 3RD Rock is one 3D show that will be,
must see tv! This one should be very good if past Pulfrich based
3D episodes broadcast a few years ago are anything to go by. I hope
they use some of their cool computer graphics in the Pulfrich segments.
And for the person that asked, yes practically any pair of darkened
glasses will work. Just make sure to put only one of the darkend
glasses on one eye only. Not sure which eye it will be.
You don't need the glasses that come with Barq's root beer.
