simple do-it-yourself 3d movies?

Hi all,

I've been racking my brain all day about this (which can get a bit
painful depending on the rack one is using). Could someone tell me why
the following would not work as a simple way of creating 3D super-8 or
16mm movies? Attach a simple beam-splitter to the front of the movie
camera (preferably a beam-splitter with movable outside mirrors like the
Franka). Expose the film. Develop the film. Rig a stand to hold the
beam-splitter in from of the projector lens. Put polarizing filters in
front of the beam-splitter. Adjust the outside mirrors on the
beam-splitter so the split images are correctly superimposed on the
screen. Put on polarized glasses. Enjoy. Can anyone see the flaw in
this plan?

Thanks,
Don
