As I commented a few days ago, there is a mammoth gap between watching a
master tape on an expensive professional monitor under ideal conditions and
broadcasting that image through satellite connections, pushing it through
all kinds of local broadcasting hardware and then sending it through the
air to a million commercial-grade TV sets tuned in a million different
ways. I'm quite sure that no one at ABC had ever seen one of their 3D
images under anything less than perfectly ideal conditions until the night
of May 6, and I suspect they were horrified when they finally saw what
happened to those images in the "real world."
