P3D IMAX Polarizers and other questions

It was dicussed a while back about the great image separation obtained by
the IMAX process. I understand there are theaters/shows displayed with the
use a LCS gogles (which, if properly done, have a HUGE potential for
separation) as well as "regular" linear polarizing glasses/filters (which
are not quite perfect). I was wondering if anybody new what type of filters
IMAX uses (that is, who is their supplier/type, such as Polaroids HN35, or
such) as to get such good results (little crosstalk) and how often they have
to be replaced at the projector...
Incidentally, anybody knows of a good material for rear projection
(polarized, of course:) in lighted enviroments? I read a while back about
somebody using a really dark rear screen and circular polarizers a couple of
times with good results in a convention.
