I've wondered about shooting 3D with my 4x5 so I'd like to know how
you make out.
For making the camera shift I find that Bogen makes a mount that
works well. Now it's being sold as a tripod mount for camcorders
but if you mount the camera 90 deg. you've got a slide bar with a
max. range of 80mm (plate is lockable at any distance) for a
slightly hyper image. Extra plates are only $20 so I have one for
each of my cameras and I use it as a semi-quick tripod release
that is 3D capable. It works, though not easily, with my 4x5 field
camera.
As for viewing I think something designed for looking at aerial
mapping photos should work. Edmonds Scientific might
still sell one. They used to sell an intro book for using such
aerial photos that I came across as a forestry student. It
was great fun but I lacked the cash to buy one for myself.
Now I have the cash but can't find the book.
