Report - 2nd Cleveland Club meeting
We had a nice time at the second meeting of the Cleveland stereo club.
About 30 people showed up (substantial drop from the initial 50+, but
these are "keepers" and form a healthy basis for a new club.)
The program was a narrated slide presentation "Our Natural Heritage in
3D" put together by Dr. Bernard Stell from his frequent trips to the
SW USA (national parks, etc.) during the 50s and 60s. Realist
photography at its best!
George Themelis (that's me!) projected the slides and showed his twin
Konica FT1 cameras that he got from Dr. Stell, and also a lovely (if I
may say so) portrait of his daughter Lea (cute kid, takes after her
dad!) taken with the cameras bottom to bottom and 135 mm lenses at
close focus, just this past Memorial day weekend.
After the presentation and coffee break we discussed club issues. We
are in the unique position of putting together a constitution for the
club which cannot be approved by the membership since "membership" is
defined in the constitution! (We have no constitution and no members
at the present time but we will, hopefuly, have both by the end of
next meeting). The draft package was met with approval. It will be
distributed in the newsletter and will be voted in the next meeting
and hopefully approved by the majority of the people present.
Since we have no officials yet, I proposed myself for President (he,
he, he!) and Jim Motley for Vice-President. We made a distinction
between elected officials (President, Vice-President, Secretary,
Treasurer) and work assignments (Program, Awards, Membership,
Librarian, Newsletter Editor). Work assignments can be covered by the
elected officials (for example, I will be in charge of Programs and
also Newsletter Editor) or by appointed officials. More details will
be distributed with the next newsletter (this newsletter will also
include a special on the Stereo Realist camera.)
Membership fees are proposed at $15 per person ($20 per family of 2
adults + children w/one newsletter). Subscription to the newsletter
only is available at $12 per year (10 issues). Subscription is open
to anyone in the USA. If you subscribe before September, you will
receive 13 newsletters (includes the months of May-July) That's a
bargain, considering that the cost of producing and mailing the
newsletter is about $1 a piece)
Next meeting is set for the first Tuesday in July, same time and
place. For program we will have a stereo mounting workshop,
followed by open projection (so we can criticize other people's
mounting skills!) There will be no meeting in August. Meetings
will resume in September for the 1997-1998 year (the first for
our club!)
Reporting from Cleveland Ohio, site of yet another stereo club,
George Themelis, proposed club president (also Program Director,
Newsletter Editor, Projectionist, and photo-3d representative :))
