Royal Wedding in 3D, Athens, 1962

I recently acquired the VM package C005, "Royal Wedding, Athens 1962".
Thinking that this was the wedding of Prince (and later King)
Constantinos, I placed and embarrassingly high maximum bid, but
obtained the package for a reasonable price.

When the package arrived, I was surprised to find that this was NOT
the wedding of Prince Constantinos (an event of primary importance
to Greek history) but of his sister, Princes Sofia, with Prince (of
Spain) Don Juan Carlos, which makes it of secondary importance
for Greece, but of primary importance for Spain because Don Juan
Carlos and Sofia are NOW the King and Queen of Spain!!!

However, it is still a great VM package and of great interest and
importance for me. The photography is great. All the pictures are
stereoscopic. Princes Sofia looks lovely with an attractive smile
(yes, I fell in love with her!) For the ladies: Prince Carlos is
handsome too! They both look in their mid/late 20s and in love
with each other (Ahhh, youth! :-))

The wedding took place in May 14th 1962, on a sunny day (that's
Athens, not London!!!) There must have been a service at a
Catholic church (1 picture) but the majority of the pictures are
from the Greek Orthodox wedding in Mitropolis (official Greek
church), outside and inside. I like this set because there are
pictures of Athens and also plenty of pictures of King Paul (the
father) and Prince Constantinos who became the King in a few years
after the death of Paul. In one picture they both greet visitors
right as they get off the plane, with their official uniforms
(black w/swords and a few pounds of medals in their chest!)

For the history, the Royal institution was never very popular in
Greece because of the King's interference with politics. In 1974
Greece voted to change the constitution from Royal to Presidential
Democracy. The X-King Constantinos and his family now live in
London. I asked a few questions in a Greek newsgroup and, sure
enough, that prompted a heated debate, starting from the comments
of one person who was in high school at the time and remembers
the wedding and telling us how much money it cost the Greek
taxpayers!!!

PS. I plan to copy some of these pictures and mount them in
Realist format mounts to mix with other pictures for my program
on Greece. Does anyone know where VM keeps the originals and if
there is any change to let an individual copy them???
