This reminded me of an interview I saw with the author of a book
several years ago called "Flattened Fauna" which was how to identify
critters that hadn't made it across a highway successfully.

He pointed out about the title that not only had they lost their
life, they lost their 3rd dimension after a few hundred semitrailers
had gone past.
