You would hardly call it a stereoscopic, but you haven't seen it! I have
seen it, and was very surprised to discover a startling amount of depth,
comparable to the Pulfrich effect- with one eye! It disappears with 2! I
would have agreed with you before actually having seen it in action- 

I'm surprised this shocking idea didn't generate more interest...
