_Vision_ is an illusion.  We construct what we see in our brains.
What's really out there is collections of organized and disorganized
atoms and molecules all quivering and some making progress in a
sea of electromagnetic radiation.  Our sensors select some of the
radiation and construct a utile internal representation.  This
seems to satisfy our needs.

This is not just mere philosophy but it is actually the way our perception
