This is a worthy cause and perhaps these are the pictures that will have
significant historical and monetary value in the future.

I am glad that there are people like you (and Bill Walton) doing this.

However, suggesting that I should perhaps take pictures of boring subjects
because one day they will be gone and someone must photograph them, instead
of taking pictures of beautiful flowers and other historically worthless
objects, is a bit of a stretch for me.

My life is short. There are family pictures that have little historical
value. Example: Pictures of my young children. Most probably, 100
years from now, no one would care about those. Yet those pictures have a
tremendous value for me. I need to take pictures to satisfy myself
and not the historian of the year 2100. I enjoy good photography and
I will continue to photograph objects and scenes that are either
attractive or have value for me now. If some of those pictures turn
out to be of historical value, that will be fine. But I do not plan
to change my lifestyle to serve the next generations of scholars.

I'll let you and Bill do that :-)
