I took a tapered cable release, ground it down until it was cylindrical,
then rethreaded it. That works fine too.

Anybody know what metal the cable release socket is made out of on a Realist?
The tapered cable release I ground down appeared to be made of soft copper
or brass - hopefully the metal of the Realist is substantially harder.
