We have (or soon will have) a new tech-3d subscriber that some of you might
be interested in corresponding with. Rolf Henkel, from the Institute for
Theoretical Neurophysics at Bremen University in Germany, works on
algorithms for calculating disparity maps from stereo pairs. I remember
there have been some people interested in constructing 3D computer models
from stereoviews; this is the first & much the hardest step. I haven't had
time to read about how his algorithm works yet, but he applied it to one of
the anaglyphs on my old web site and the result (actually, a new stereo
pair generated from the estimated disparity map) looked quite good. The
