Todd Eifert asked for information regarding the automatic and manual
settings for the Sunpack MG-1 handle mount strobe.

Todd, I have my rarely used MG-1 in front of me. I'm not very surprised
that your auto distance table is missing. It's a rather flimsy glued-on
label.

It reads as follows;

blue setting 5 feet to 16 feet
red setting 5ft. to 23 ft.
yellow setting 5ft. to 33 ft.
green setting 7ft. to 46 ft.

I once figured out that this unit has a guide number with ISO 100 film
of about 92. That would translate to approx. 65
with ISO 50, 130 with ISO 200 film and
184 with ISO 400.

I think you've made a good choice with this flash. It's quite compact
and light weight for a handle mount unit and yet it delivers good power
output. The flash tube will swivel upwards for bounce flash.
(although not side to side) Sunpack flashes are quite durable. I've
used their shoe mount units for many years. They're
capable of tens of thousands of discharges.

Maybe I'll use my MG-1 some more now that you've reminded me that I own
it!
