The Plano Balloon Festival held in Plano Texas each year in September
(usually the third or fourth weekend, I can't remember right now) has
always been my favorite place for photographs in general and 3D here
lately.

The great thing about it is 1) it's free to attend, 2) they have bus
transportation from a remote parking lot (a lot closer to my house!) for
$1.00, 3) they have between 80 - 150 balloons, including many special
shape balloons, 4) they have various specialty events such as Dawn Patrol
and Balloon Glow, and 5) many times the whole fleet flies over our house.

I particularly like the early morning launches as there's usually less
people and you never know what's going to happen. One year it was too
foggy to fly so all the balloons remained tethered and they let the crowd
out on the launch field. It was really awesome to walk under a canopy of
balloons and feel the warmth they gave off on a rather cool foggy
September morning.

Anyway, my first attempt at 3D photography was dual 35mm cameras at the
balloon festival. That along with the 1 hour slide developing lab near
the house gave me my first 3D slides. They were pretty awesome.

So, if you have a festival in the area, go!
