Halogen Lamps in Projectors

Thanks to our illustrious moderators for fixing my email address
problem. I should now be able to emerge from lurkerhood.
A while back there was some discussion about using type BTP
750W halogen lamps in Projectors. Has anyone tested these
and determined if there is an actual increase in brightness
over the traditional DDB 750W lamps? I am aware that the
DDB's darken with use and have less output at the end of
life, so it would be best if the comparison were for
relatively new lamps. Specifically, I am using a TDC 716
projector. Also, does anyone know of a cheap source
for these? I really don't want to spend $35 each for a
pair of lamps plus a spare, though the extended life
should make them cheaper in the long run.
