To give a concrete example, if you point your hound dog at a stereo camera
and take a photo, and mount the images to set the stereo window at the
dog's shoulders, then the dog's shoulders will appear in exactly the same
position (side to side) in the two views, the dog's tail will appear further
to the *left* in the left view, and the dog's nose will appear further to
the *right* in the left view. The dog's head is in front of the stereo
window.
If you mount the photos so that the hound dog's nose is at the same relative
position in the left and right views, then the nose will be at the stereo
window, and all the rest of the dog will be behind the stereo window. Except
for the nose, all of the dog will appear further to the left in the left
view than in the right view, the difference between the two views being
the greatest for the tail.
