Kodachrome economics

Hey, I know this isn't the economics & marketing listserve
so this will end my part of this discussion, but...
Typically Kodak only runs promotions on print film for the point
and shoot crowd. I think Dr. T and Eric Goldstein should recognize
that Kodak is, in effect, saying that Kodachrome is still
a viable mass market product and not just a micro-market
specialty item. It has been clear for years that K-chrome
is not competitive and has become the preferred film for a
smaller and smaller set of serious hobbyists and professionals.
To me this shows a willingness to keep Kodachrome alive. They
could just as easily let it continue to shrink into oblivion
and make more profit from another formulation of fast print film.
So, while George and Eric are generally correct in their application
of marketing principles, this is a special case, since K-chrome dropped
from market dominance years ago.
And besides, I just wanted all the P3D folks to take advantage
of this price break.
