Re: rules in art and 3-D

Perhaps stereoscopy is in a similar condition. Break some rules, and
there will be those who say, "THAT is ONE rule that may NEVER be
broken, even for art--it just is BAD." Remember Mahler, Schoenberg,
Picasso--Remember even Pons and Fleischmann if you must (cold
fusion?). Just don't forget that there were and also shall be
Velikovskys. Some, but not all, rule breakers will be exonerated.

Ray Zone responds:
Bravo Ken! In matters of art (and stereography) rules exist only to be
broken! While technical issues in 3-D are intriguing and important,
stereography is not just the quantitative reproduction of the visible
world. It is also a surreal realm that presents the possibility for a
cerebrally experienced visual field quite unlike the monocular world. As
for myself, it is not the mere replication of the visual consensus that
interests me in stereography but the invention of new realities that can
only be fashioned from binocular stereopsis.
