film adaptation of a classic story with contemporary live-action 
retelling of "the Nutcracker Prince."
     Lensing in London, it features Oscar nominee Miriam Margolyes  
("The Age of Innocence"), Heathcote Williams and 150 performance
artists, mimies, acrobats and actors. Christine Edzard, who was
nominated for an Academy Award for her adapted script "Little Dorrit,"
is writing, directing and designing the costumes for this film version
of E.T.A Hoffman's classic tale that inspired the famous ballet.
     Imax plans to make the film its 1997 Chrismas release at many of 
its 150 large-format theaters."

According to listmember, Noel Archambault, who is working on the
film, "(It) Should be quite a spectacle, as the visual treatment is stunning."
The article does not mention that IMAX hopes to make it an annual
Christmas release or that it is in 3D.

I noticed on posters for the new IMAX film "Thrill Ride", which opens 
next month, they have printed "in IMAX 2D."
