Your recollection is in error. I specifically used the words "not
recommended" regarding convergence and "usual case" for the window
at infinity. Nothing you have said contradicts the statement as
originally made (not as misinterpreted by various parties).
I know better than to assume that ANY guideline is an absolute; the
world is too complex a place to assume that there won't be some
situation where the exception to the rule applies. But for there
to be an exception to the rule, there must first be a rule, no?
Heck, you've even found an application for severe vertical misalignment,
aka View Magic over/under format. Even rotational error has a
possible application (in the testing labs for Excedrin). :-)
That said, however, are we now to simply preach the stereo gospel
that there are no guidelines for taking successful stereo pictures, and
that anything goes? If so, George, I'll be sure to submit all my
window-violating, rotated, vertically-misaligned, tilted, out-of-focus,
keystoned, underexposed masterpieces to your next showing, for your
ocular and esthetic, er, entertainment. Hey, it's Art, ain't it?
Just don't blame me if all your clubmembers quit that very night. :-)
