Kodak Stereo on Mars

In an article from the Rochester paper with the headline "Kodak takes aim
at Mars":
"Starting this week, Eastman Kodak will stretch its slogan --"Take
Pictures. Further." --further than ever: to Mars, 140 million miles from
Earth."
The article says that there are three digital image sensors designed and
built at Kodak Park on the Sojourner robot vehicle on board the Pathfinder,
expected to reach Mars on the Fourth of July. It goes on to say:
"Two of the Kodak sensors are Sojourner's eyes, linked to a black and white
stereoscopic navigational camera mounted on the front.
"The matchbook-sized sensors, worth about $400 retail, are ....already
widely used in many digital imaging applications, including video and still
cameras, X-rays, satellites and microscopes"
So who knows where to link up to the images? Or are these just focused on
the ground immediately ahead of the rover? Might be about as interesting
as those lunar soil sample macro-stereos the Apollo astronauts took (with
another Kodak Stereo camera, by the way).
Can't say if I've heard of any Realists heading for the moon or Mars
lately. Guess they didn't have the "Right Stuff" :--)
Best regards,
Bill Davis
