Jamie's Official Convention Report
- From: P3D Jamie Drouin <jdrouin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx>

I am slowly recovering from the six fabulous days at the NSA Con,
as well as the annoying cold I caught the day I arrived. But aside from
the embarrasing sneezing and crackled voice I had a great time this year.
Things got off to somewhat of a slow start...I was a little concerned when
we arrived in Bellevue, drove to the Double Tree Hotel and found it to be
this tiny bungalo-style structure with no convention facilities in sight!
Lincoln, myself and Mike all suddenly felt sick about 3D's obvious fall
from grace to be housed in such a small buidling....that is, until the guy
at the desk to me that it was actually in the larger Double Tree down the
road. PHEW!
I had a chance to meet several new email-friends in person,
including Bill Walton, Peter Sinclair, Michael Dabrosca and Bill (yikes! I
can't remember your last name, Bill! Sorry), and John Bercovitz & family.
Everyone was extremely nice to me and I hope they enjoyed our conversations
as much as I did. As the week progressed so did my cold, so please forgive
me if I didn't get a chance to speak with everyone at length. I only got
to say 'hi' to Gregory and Susan Wageman, which I feel horrible about, but
this is the nature of such a busy convention. You try and do everything at
once.
I was also honored to be voted the new NSA Representative for
Western Canada...a position I will serve to my best abilities. Actually,
it will be interesting to see how many people join the NSA after seeing the
Sooke Museum exhibit. The current numbers are 200 per day being exposed to
the glory of 3D! I will keep them well-stocked on NSA brochures.
Thank you to all those who helped organize the con...we all enjoyed
ourselves a great deal (and thankfully customs didn't see our trunk full of
3D goodies!!! ;-)
:-)jamie.
