One Hour Kodachrome Labs - Not Yet
- From: P3D Bill Davis <bd3d@xxxxxxxxxxxxx>
- Subject: One Hour Kodachrome Labs - Not Yet
- Date: Fri, 11 Jul 1997 22:52:59 -0400
In February, Kodak announced the introduction of a mini-lab for 1-hour
processing of Kodachrome. Said to improve the quality of processing
results as well as reducing the support staff and floor space requirements
of current Kodachrome labs, now numbering less than a dozen worldwide, the
K-Labs were to be introduced to select markets first, with more widespread
distribution later.
There has been little word since then on the progress, other than mention
in the Annual Report, so I e-mailed Kodak recently, asking where the labs
might be deployed. (One would think that the Rochester area would be one
of the test markets at least.)
Here's the response I got the other day:
>
>Dear Mr. Davis,
>
>Thank you for contacting Kodak regarding the availability of labs offering
>processing for Kodachrome film.
>
>The Kodak K-Lab Kodachrome Processing System is not yet available for
>photofinishers. The product was announced in February 1997 at PMA and is
>planned to be available in late 1997. Information that was announced can
>be found at the following Kodak website address:

>
>Thank you for visiting our Kodak website. We hope this information is of
>help. If you should have any questions on Kodak products or services,
please be sure >to revisit our site as we are continually adding
information to enhance our support.

So we wait a bit longer, it seems.
